Whether you are a student, the parent of students, or school staff, your opinion about the meals served will help us to offer appealing and more desired meal options.

PTSA has several events and activities coming up, including Valentine Gram deliveries, Popcorn Friday, a Food Handlers certification class, and yearbook sales. Volunteers are especially needed to help prepare and distribute popcorn, and having more certified helpers allows us to run student events and concessions. Family involvement makes these activities possible, and community support is greatly appreciated.

The Vicenza ES gym has been transformed into an Olympic arena, and it is all thanks to the creativity and energy of Ms. Stokes.

As part of a schoolwide Winter Olympics theme, each classroom teacher chose a country to represent in the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Students proudly compete on behalf of their class nation during P.E., and Ms. Stokes is keeping a running medal count (2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics) that has everyone talking in the hallways.

Our VES Chess Club is off to a fantastic start, and students in grades 3 to 5 are already showing great focus, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm each week. Meeting every Tuesday after school, Chess Club has become a favorite place for students to challenge themselves, think ahead, and have fun with friends.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and our PTSA is helping students share a little kindness with their friends. Valentine Grams are now available for families who would like to send notes to their child’s class.

Families are invited to take advantage of free after-school tutoring every Wednesday from 3:00–6:00 PM at the Ederle Library. This program is open to students in 1st–8th grade and offers support in Math, Reading, Writing, and Science. Tutoring is provided by volunteer community members, and no registration is required. Stop by and give your child extra academic support in a welcoming environment.

Vicenza students brought creativity and collaboration to new heights during the Balloons Down Broadway STEM Challenge. For the second consecutive year, this cross-grade initiative united Mrs. Lubba’s 3rd graders, middle school “Coding Captains,” and high school video production students in a hands-on learning experience inspired by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Vicenza Elementary School: Building Strong Attendance Habits Together

Our belief: Attendance is a shared responsibility among parents/guardians, students, teachers, and the school, supported by ongoing communication.

It is DoDEA Policy that:

• Regular school attendance correlates directly with success in academic work, improves social interaction with adults and peers, provides opportunities for important communication between teachers and students, and provides a cumulative effect of establishing life-long positive habits that are critical for developing career readiness skills and success in college.

Students in grades K–5 recently participated in our first annual North Pole Games during Physical Education, and the gym was filled with energy, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. Throughout the unit, students “earned” North Pole money by completing a variety of physical exercises. Once they earned their money, they had the opportunity to spend it on engaging and festive activity stations set up around the gym.

Ms. Williams' first graders recently added a musical twist to their literacy learning by singing fairy tale stories to the tune of Jingle Bells. Using their Benchmark Advance Reading and Writing Journals from Unit 4, students transformed familiar fairy tale elements into fun, rhythmic songs.

After 45 years dedicated to education, including 37 years serving military-connected students with the Department of Defense Education Activity, Vicenza Elementary School third-grade teacher Linda Testa is retiring, closing a remarkable chapter of service to the Vicenza military community.

This week, Vicenza Elementary School fifth graders proudly presented their Native American culture projects during a special gallery walk event. After several weeks of research, writing, and hands-on model building, students transformed their classrooms into interactive learning spaces filled with dioramas, structures, artifacts, and written reports.

At Vicenza Elementary School, our teachers are continuing their work with Teacher Clarity, a practice that helps students clearly understand what they are learning, why it matters, and what success looks like. On Monday, November 24, Vicenza Elementary School welcomed a special guest: Cadet Samuel Grady, a 2024 graduate of Vicenza High School and current third-class cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Samuel, whose younger sister Eleanor is a student in the fourth grade, met with our Cougar Cubs to share his experiences, answer questions, and inspire future leaders.
