From relay races and obstacle courses to moments of rest and connection with friends, the day truly showcased the spirit and energy of our VES community. These photos capture just a few of the many highlights as students stayed active, supported one another, and enjoyed time outdoors together. Thank you again to Ms. Stokes, our JROTC cadets, and our wonderful volunteers for making the day such a success!

Jun 4 2026 — Victory Elementary School recently honored the retirements of Laura Hollis (Multilingual Learner Program), Louise Therriault (School Nurse), and Trina Downey (2nd Grade Teacher) with a joyful parade and celebration filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt appreciation. Surrounded by students and colleagues, the retirees were celebrated with high-fives, hugs, and a festive sendoff that reflected the deep impact each has had on the VES community. Louise expressed gratitude for the “wonderful send off” and the teamwork that made the day so special, while Trina reflected on 22 years of cherished memories, meaningful connections, and the unwavering support of colleagues and students. Their dedication, care, and passion have shaped countless lives, and their presence will be deeply missed. VES wishes Laura, Louise, and Trina all the very best as they begin their next chapter—filled with well-earned relaxation, new adventures, and lasting memories.

Jun 4 2026 — Our talented 5th graders brought history to life with their lively performance of “U.S. Constitution: The Reality Show,” a fun and engaging musical that combines civics and comedy. The classes of Mrs. Strom and Ms. Mancino, performed on May 21, followed by another fantastic performance on May 28 by Mr. Sparling and Mrs. Herendeen’s classes. The show creatively imagined the Founding Fathers as contestants in a reality show, debating key ideas like checks and balances, the Bill of Rights, and how our government was formed—all set to catchy songs and humorous dialogue. The students’ enthusiasm, preparation, and teamwork truly shined on stage. Thank you to all of our performers for their hard work and dedication—we are so proud of our amazing 5th graders!

May 28 2026 — Vicenza, Italy - On May 28, 2026, Vicenza High School JROTC cadets conducted their annual service-learning project at Vicenza Elementary School, focusing on the importance of healthy lifestyles, nutrition, exercise, safety, and mental wellness for elementary students. Cadets partnered with 17 classrooms throughout the school day, working directly with students through interactive lessons, movement activities, discussions, and games designed to encourage positive lifestyle habits at an early age.

May 26 2026 — Ms. Guthier's music students from Vicenza High School visited the VES 4th and 5th grade students, making it a special musical experience. During the hour-long visit, the band students will performed a song and then separated into instrument families, giving students the opportunity to see, hold, and explore a variety of band instruments up close.

May 22 2026 — First-grade students enjoyed an exciting and memorable field trip to the Verona Zoo (Parco Natura Viva), where they explored a variety of animals from around the world. The trip provided a fun, hands-on learning experience as students observed animal behaviors, asked questions, and connected their classroom learning to the real world. It was a wonderful day filled with curiosity, discovery, and smiles!

May 22 2026 — Students from Ms. Chick’s third-grade class (Greyson, Penelope, and Elaine) had a wonderful opportunity to showcase their learning during a recent visit from a representative from Headquarters. The students shared how they incorporate technology and AI into their classroom experiences, highlighting both the tools they enjoy using and the ways these resources support their learning. They spoke thoughtfully about what excites them most about using technology and offered insightful ideas about how they hope to see it evolve in the future. It was a meaningful experience that allowed them to demonstrate their knowledge, reflect on their learning, and engage in authentic conversation about innovation in education.

May 20 2026 — Kindergarten field trip to Oasi Rossi.

May 20 2026 — Ms. Herendeen's 5th grade collaborated with 9th graders. The 9th grade students shared their learning in Life Science with the fifth graders. A highlight was the duckling therapy!

May 19 2026 — Ahearn Er's students at the Butterfly Arc in Padova, Italy...and of course, gelato afterwards!

May 19 2026 — Mrs. Lubba’s class teamed up with VMS AVID students for an engaging STEM challenge focused on geometry and measurement, exploring area and perimeter through real-world connections to artists who emphasize geometric design.

May 7 2026 — Ms. Ahearn Er's 2nd grade class stayed busy and connected with hands‑on learning and joyful community moments this April. Families gathered for the 3rd Annual 2nd Grade BBQ, strengthening school‑home connections, while students explored their creativity through imaginative writing projects. In the classroom, young scientists and chefs even made their own yogurt and experimented with fresh fruit flavoring, learning through doing and having fun along the way.
