Mr. Andrew Gann
Biography
Andrew “Andy” Gann has served children over the past 18 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal for Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1999 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and began his career as a first grade teacher at Oak Ridge Elementary. After teaching both first and second grades for seven years and earning certification as a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher, Andy was awarded the North Carolina Principal Fellows Scholarship. In 2008, he earned a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and began serving students as a school administrator. Andy served as the assistant principal at Alamance Elementary for one year before accepting the position of principal at Sedalia Elementary, a position he held for six years. In 2015, Mr. Gann was appointed as the principal of Peeler Open Elementary for the Performing Arts.
Andy lives with his wife Sammie, who is also an elementary school teacher. They have four wonderful and energetic children: Davon, McKinley, Brooklyn, and Jakob. The Gann family enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, family movie nights, and taking their golden retriever, Lexie for walks. Andy is very excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve the Aviano students, parents, and community. He believes that all children deserve an exceptional and word- class education. He is a relational leader who always keeps his door open to students, parents and school faculty and staff.
