This Week's Cougar Cubs Highlights
Hello VES Families,
As we wrap up the school year, this has truly been a week full of celebration and school spirit at Vicenza Elementary School. We kicked things off with a fantastic Field Day on Monday, and it was an incredible success. Our students had a wonderful time participating in a variety of fun and engaging activities, showing teamwork, energy, and Cougar pride throughout the day.
A very special thank you goes to Ms. Stokes, our PE teacher, for her outstanding planning and leadership in organizing such a memorable event. We also extend our appreciation to the Vicenza High School JROTC cadets who supported Field Day and helped create such a positive experience for our students. Their leadership and enthusiasm made a big impact. We are equally grateful to our parent volunteers and staff members who gave their time and energy to ensure the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all.
As we approach the final days of the school year, we encourage families to check our Lost and Found. We have many items waiting to be claimed, and all remaining items will be donated on the last day of school.
Please also note that the last day of school is Tuesday, June 9, with early release at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Teacher Work Day on June 10 with no school for students.
As we close out this school year, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to our entire VES community. Thank you to our families, volunteers, and staff for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our students. This has been a wonderful year, and we could not do it without you. I hope everyone enjoys a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer.
If you have not yet registered your child for School Year 2026–2027, please take a few minutes to do so. If you need assistance, our main office is happy to help.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,
Mr. Caballero
Vicenza ES Principal
From the Nurses Corner
Dear Parents/Sponsors of Cougar Cubs,
Summer is a wonderful time to slow down, enjoy the sunshine and recharge---but higher temperatures and busy schedules can also take a toll on your body. Rest is just as important as hydration and sun safety when it comes to staying healthy during the summer months.
Here are some practical tips for helping you and your family stay well-rested, refreshed and safe all summer long.
Without enough rest:
- Energy levels drop
- Concentration decreases
- Risk of heat related illnesses increases
It’s important for children to take time to rest to allow their bodies to recover, stay cool and function at their best.
Hydration is essential to prevent fatigue and to regulate body temperature.
Sip water throughout the day.
Keep Kids Safe and Rested
Children are more sensitive to heat and can tire quickly.
- Encourage regular water breaks
- Schedule quiet time during the hottest part of the day
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (fatigue, nausea, weakness)
✅ Rest is essential for growing bodies—especially during active summer days.
🌼 Final Thought
Summer should be a time of fun and relaxation—not exhaustion. By balancing activity with rest, staying hydrated, and getting quality sleep, you can enjoy a healthy and refreshing summer.
💙 Nurse’s Reminder:
Rest is how your body stays strong, safe, and ready for every new day.

Celebrating Three Incredible Careers at VES
Surrounded by students and colleagues, the retirees were celebrated with high-fives, hugs, and a festive sendoff that reflected the deep impact each has had on the VES community. Louise expressed gratitude for the “wonderful send off” and the teamwork that made the day so special, while Trina reflected on 22 years of cherished memories, meaningful connections, and the unwavering support of colleagues and students.
Their dedication, care, and passion have shaped countless lives, and their presence will be deeply missed. VES wishes Laura, Louise, and Trina all the very best as they begin their next chapter—filled with well-earned relaxation, new adventures, and lasting memories.
