This Week's Cougar Cubs Highlights
Hello VES Families,
This week at Vicenza Elementary School has been filled with celebration, school spirit, and opportunities for our students to shine. On Thursday, we proudly hosted JROTC Cadet Day, giving our students a chance to engage with and learn from our Vicenza High School JROTC program. It was a meaningful event that highlighted leadership, service, and community connection.
We also look forward to celebrating our talented students during the 2nd Grade Spring Concert this afternoon. Our second graders have been working hard in preparation, and we are excited for families to enjoy this special performance.
Looking ahead, we are excited for next week’s VES Field Day on Monday, June 1 (with a rain date June 2), where students will have the opportunity to come together for a day of fun, teamwork, and school spirit. Bookmark our VES calendar to stay up to date. Check out the VES School Calendar SY26-27 at the top of the page!
As we begin planning for next school year, if you have not yet registered your child for School Year 2026–2027, please take a few minutes to do so. If you need assistance, our main office is happy to help.
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, these moments remind us of the strong sense of community and pride that make VES such a special place. Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate our students and all they have accomplished.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,
Mr. Caballero

From the Nurses Corner
Dear Parents/Sponsors of Cougar Cubs,
Summer is a wonderful time to slow down, enjoy the sunshine and recharge---but higher temperatures and busy schedules can also take a toll on your body. Rest is just as important as hydration and sun safety when it comes to staying healthy during the summer months.
Here are some practical tips for helping you and your family stay well-rested, refreshed and safe all summer long.
Without enough rest:
- Energy levels drop
- Concentration decreases
- Risk of heat related illnesses increases
It’s important for children to take time to rest to allow their bodies to recover, stay cool and function at their best.
Hydration is essential to prevent fatigue and to regulate body temperature.
Sip water throughout the day.
Keep Kids Safe and Rested
Children are more sensitive to heat and can tire quickly.
- Encourage regular water breaks
- Schedule quiet time during the hottest part of the day
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (fatigue, nausea, weakness)
✅ Rest is essential for growing bodies—especially during active summer days.
🌼 Final Thought
Summer should be a time of fun and relaxation—not exhaustion. By balancing activity with rest, staying hydrated, and getting quality sleep, you can enjoy a healthy and refreshing summer.
💙 Nurse’s Reminder:
Rest is how your body stays strong, safe, and ready for every new day.
