This Week's Cougar Cubs Highlights
Hello VES Families,
We’ve had a great closing week of the Month of the Military Child at Vicenza Elementary School! I want to give a special shout out to our wonderful counseling team, PTSA, and volunteers for orchestrating such a wonderful month full of events from the first to the last day of April! I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our students, teachers, and PTSA for the incredible effort put into the Purple Up! Door Decorating Contest. Walking through our halls and seeing so many awesome decorated doors filled with purple, pride, and creativity was truly inspiring. Each display honored the strength and resilience of our military connected students. Well done to all who participated, and congratulations to our winning classes!
As we look ahead, I would like to share an important reminder that Summative Testing for students in grades 3–5 will take place next week, May 4–8. Testing will occur in the mornings, with make-ups scheduled in the afternoons as needed. Our staff has worked carefully to create a supportive and calm testing environment, including schedule adjustments and small-group settings where appropriate. Thanks to a partnership between the PTSA and commissary, we will have some snack support to keep students' minds sharp.
We ask for your support in helping students be successful by ensuring they arrive at school on time, are well rested, and have eaten breakfast each morning.
This also coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week, a wonderful time to celebrate the outstanding teachers and educational aides who support, challenge, and inspire our students each day.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,
Mr. Caballero
Vicenza ES Principal

From the Nurses Corner
Cougar Cub” Families!
Did you know that the cold and flu season can actually last through May/June depending on the number of cases in the area? There has been an uptick of cold symptoms both in the Middle and Elementary school in many of our students. Please encourage increased hand washing with your child/children and keep your student home if he/she is ill. Additionally, this is a reminder that students may not carry any medication at school. This includes over the counter medication. If your student has over the counter or prescription medication that is needed during school hours, please contact the school nurse to have the necessary paperwork completed. You can refer to the School Nursing Services page to reference policies on Student Illness as well as Medication at School.
