Vicenza Elementary PreK fashion show brings learning to life
VICENZA, Italy — Vicenza Elementary School’s youngest learners lit up the runway this week as PreK students debuted their very own fashion show, the culminating celebration of their in-depth study of clothing. Throughout the unit, students explored how garments are made, compared fabrics such as cotton and wool, experimented with fasteners like zippers and buttons, and discovered how clothing choices serve different purposes and occasions. Their curiosity, creativity and confidence came together in a colorful showcase that had families and staff cheering from the audience.
A runway filled with learning and imagination
Each PreK class brought its own theme to the stage, transforming the runway into a lively display of style, confidence and early childhood learning.
Community heroes — professional uniforms
Mrs. Gennero’s class opened the show with a tribute to everyday heroes. Students proudly walked the runway dressed as firefighters, police officers and military service members, demonstrating their understanding of the important roles these professionals play in keeping communities safe.
Groovy vibes — tie-dye creations
Next, Ms. DeCaro’s class delivered a burst of color with their custom tie-dyed shirts. Each design reflected the students’ creativity and the excitement of hands-on learning as they experimented with color patterns and fabric design.
Pattern power — prints and patterns parade
Mrs. Lloyd’s class showcased bold prints and vibrant patterns, from florals to polka dots. Students demonstrated their growing ability to identify and combine patterns while confidently sharing their creations with the audience.
Red carpet ready — dress-up elegance
Closing the show, students from Mrs. Dulli’s and Mrs. Dickson’s classes stepped onto the runway dressed in elegant dress-up attire fit for a formal celebration. Their confidence and enthusiasm created a memorable grand finale.
A celebration of growth, creativity and community
The fashion show served as more than an entertaining event. It gave PreK students the opportunity to apply investigative skills, expand vocabulary and express themselves through creative exploration. Events like this highlight the power of experiential learning and demonstrate how even the youngest students can confidently showcase what they have learned.
Families and staff gathered to celebrate the students’ hard work, applauding each young model as they took their turn on the runway. The event was a joyful reminder that learning can be collaborative, creative and deeply engaging.
